Interesting Facts About Earth

Do you know any interesting facts? I guess some general things from school like it's the only planet that we know have life. It's time to discover that you may know, or may not. :-)

Well, Most people don't know that the Earth really not round, it's actually slightly pear-shaped and weighs about 6,588,000,000,000 million tons.

The Earth is always traveling around the Sun with speed 10,6216 kilometre-per-hour. Earth also rotate pretty fast at 1600 kilometr-per-hour. Its orbit around the Sun approximatelly 938,891,289 km.

You probably know that Earth has 1 moon, but do you know that our plante has also 2 co-orbital satellites (asteroids). Scientiest call them 2002 AA29 and 3753 Cruithne.

Our planet is like a great magnet that have poles at the top and bottom, located near geographic poles. It create a powerful magnetic field called "the magnetosphere". It protect the Earth from big amount of solar winds and radiation. So we should be really gratefull for such protection.

Interesting Facts About The Earth Actually it doesn’t take 24 hours to Earth rotate on its axis. The real amount of time is 23 hours, 56 mun and 4 sec. That mean that our day is actually 4 minutes shorter that we normally think it is. And a year on our planet isn't 365 days, but actually 365.25 days. Here's the reason why we add on an extra day in February.

70% of the Earth’s surface is covered with oceans. When soviet astronaut Yuri Gagarin went into the space, he looked at the Earth and called our home "The Blue Planet".
